Obituary of John W. Byrne

Byrne, John W. Of Angola, NY, given peacefully back to God on April 2, 2020. Beloved husband of 61 years of Eleanor (nee Lerczak) Byrne; devoted father of Jacqueline (Thomas Hare) Byrne, Michael Byrne and Deirdre (Thomas) Heltz; cherished grandfather of Jacob, Ethan, Benjamin and Olivia Heltz and Lauren Byrne; son of the late Dennis and Beatrice Byrne of Auburn, NY. John was a member of the NYS Police, Organized Crime Task Force and enjoyed a long retirement. An Army veteran and career public servant, he always put others before himself, guided, protected, encouraged and helped his family and others he encountered no matter how dire or unpleasant the circumstances. Family was his passion and joy, he has left them an excellent example of true servant leadership guided by empathy, kindness and love. A celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10:00 AM in SS. Peter and Paul Parish, Hamburg, NY. Memorials may be made in John’s name to SS Peter and Paul Parish, 66 E.
