One of my favorite photos. Mom enjoyong a visit from George while she was in my care. Look at that smile! She always loved being outdoors in the sunshine and with those she loved.

United States Army Captain Marie C. Dean was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service pin, Humanitarian Medal and American Campaign Medal.
She would tell stories of Tigers… Flying Tigers.
She was friends with General Claire Lee Chennault, the American military aviator leader of the "Flying Tigers" She told of the story when he flew her home from California to his hometown New Orleans where she lost him in a crown and returned to Buffalo via train.
She also told stories of going for plane rides with Fighter pilot Pappy Boyington to go swimming.
She was a head nurse who volunteered her service. She cared for injured soldier and she said most were burn victims from war. She said it didn’t bother her to see the injured soldiers because she was nurse and trained to do her job. It just didn’t phase her. She served Honorably from October 2, 1944 - June 30, 1947
She is my Hero and the reason I also joined the Army.
