Cory was a good soul; he loved and respected his family and friends. If you respected him, he bent over backwards for you (like doing late homework he didn’t want to do or working out in the weight room :). I’m honored to have taught him and be friends with the family. God bless Cory and all who struggle with the many conflicts and stresses that come with life.

I am so sorry for your loss Jimmy, there is no greater tragedy in this life and I pray Cory finds eternal peace. I will always always remember him as a team leader, confident, humorous, strong on his skates, and the anchor on the '99 Hamburg Hawks defense, the best bunch of hockey players and parents that was ever put together...

In Corys last days he was filled with so much hope for the future! He was so happy he and his father (Jim) were getting along, was looking forward to making him proud. It was only two weeks ago when I took this picture, he supported me by stopping by a craft show I was doing! He was beyond proud of how well he was doing, and was so happy to get jim a maskHe and I talked about the struggle of sobriety and I told him nothing was impossible, no matter how hard it seemed. Cory was talking about marriage, to Beth, she brought him light I’d never seen before in his eyes. His last days were filled with love and hope, so truly sad to see this has happened.
Condolences to all family members, he left far too soon.. but his love will be everlasting! Cory , man I wish you had told me while we were talking I would have still been there for you kiddo! Your fight is now over my friend... may you now have the peace you were so desperately trying to find.

Cory was a former student of mine at LS Sr. High. Though I am retired now, I have fond memories of how hard he tried to meet my expectations for his academic success in Global History. He was polite and respectful to me, and was apologetic when he slipped. Once he shared with me how he felt at the loss of one of his friends. I was honored by his confidence. Such a nice boy, and lost too soon.

Cory spent a good amount of time with us during Hawks and Whalers hockey seasons. He often stayed with us for away tournaments. We loved his sense of humor, his loyalty to his teammates and the endless stories of his adventures in the world. He was so witty and mischievous and had an easy time making friends with the hockey parents as well. Such a big personality in a small kid. He will be missed. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Cory was one of the first few cousins I had that was younger than me. I still vividly remember Aunt Robin bringing him to Texas to meet us when he was still a pretty brand new baby and I thought he was one of the prettiest things I had ever seen (and I’ve actually spent the last week holding my new born son, thinking about Cory before finding out about this tragic news). One of my favorite memories of Cory was when we were playing in Gramma Choochie and Papa Bill’s yard after a day at Lake Erie. Little toddler Cory suddenly pulled down his pants while we were playing and announced “I go pee wee in the ga!” He couldn’t say grass and he didn’t want to go inside to use the restroom. My siblings and I quoted that often for such a long time and we still do. Because we lived so far away, we didn’t get to see him as often as we wanted, but when we did get to see him, we always had a great time. He loved his Uncle Todd, Aunt Kim, cousin Jessica, Justin, and me and we loved him! I loved you, sweet cousin Cory, and I prayed for you so often throughout my life. I will continue loving you, praying for the family you have left behind, mourning your loss, regretting the time we lost with you, and hurting for the whole family, but especially your sweet Mama, my Aunt Robin. Love your cousin, Jamie (and my husband Avery and our little week old son, Teddy. I’m glad you met Avery 7 years ago and I wish Teddy could have met you someday).
