Thomas Earl Garlock born December 28, 1952. Passed away February 14, 2026. Tom resided in
Sheridan, New York. He was born and raised in Eden, New York to Earl and Jane Garlock. Tom
graduated from Eden Central Senior High in 1972 and immediately joined the Navy. He did boot camp in
Jacksonville Florida and then was sent to San Diego. He was an electricians mate on the USS
Enterprise near the end of the Vietnam War. The 6 month tour was extended to 9 months as they were
airlifting troops from Saigon to the Enterprise.
After his discharge he and his wife Paula (deceased) moved back to Western New York. He worked
for many years as a security guard with Securitas. In Tom's later years, he would work the night shift and
holidays to let the other guards with families enjoy their family time. He had a giving heart.
He loved to work on cars especially his '66 Mustang. He also kept himself busy with his 7 acre
homestead in Sheridan with gardening and trying to improve his property. He was always trying to create
things. He wrote a book, dug a pool, erected a windmill for a power source and an outdoor shower. He
was a Renaissance man.
He will be missed by his brother Mark and Kathy Garlock and their sons and family in Florida. Also
his cousins Debbie Kloss, Rick and Sandy Ells, David and Thea Ells, Joe and Nancy Ells, Barry Ells and
their families all in Western New York and Greg Hanks and his family in Pennsylvania.
May you rest in peace Tom. No more pain.
