Dear Mecca family. Sorry to hear of your loss of Joe. I worked with him in the steel making division of Bethlehem Steel, in the BOF and Open Hearth shops when he was a Pit Foreman in the teeming aisles. My clearest memory was of Joe, who I believe rose thru the hourly ranks, running a pit crane during a wildcat strike. Not an easy job when positioning the crane over the ingot molds while the Steel Pourer below poured molten steel into the molds without splashing it everywhere. RIP Joe.
